Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer
FRESH 12oz glass bottles Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer soda!! The Pennsylvania Dutch brand has a rich history, which began in 1936, that is closely tied to its roots in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Vermont and Ohio as well as the Carolina’s where German immigrants first settled in the late 1700’s. For over two centuries this region has been known as Pennsylvania Dutch Country, famous for it’s unique heritage, folk culture and Amish traditions.
In the early 1930’s a local soft drink company in Philadelphia named ‘Krims’ was formed by Nate and Irwin Krim. In the 1940’s they changed their company’s name to Ju’cy Orange of America. A successful team, Nate handled sales while Irwin a flavor chemist was responsible for developing their soda flavors. Irwin Krim’s greatest legacy was developing a popular new flavor blend, believed to be fashioned from an old Lancaster County recipe which became known as ‘Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer.’
In 1942, the Pennsylvania Dutch name and heart logo were officially registered. Initially, the Birch Beer flavor began life only as a fountain syrup, but proved to be so popular with the public that the company decided to produce and distribute their product through other franchise bottlers and soft drink distributors. Over the years, Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer has established itself as a true American classic; enjoying a strong and loyal consumer base which spans all generations and demographics, as well as being recognized nationally in a unique niche category of nostalgic brands.
Today the Pennsylvania Dutch trademark is one of the oldest soft drink trademarks in the United States, and is the best selling Birch Beer in the country.
